For designs using 783 in significant quantities — large wheat border patterns, extensive sampler fill areas in golden tones, heraldic gold motifs that cover broad areas — dye lot consistency within J&P Coats 2307 is especially important. The medium-saturation golden zone can show batch-to-batch variation that reads as noticeably different in large stitched areas: a slightly cooler or slightly warmer batch of 2307 will be visible as a color shift partway through a large wheat sheaf fill if the skeins come from different lots. Buying all needed skeins from the same lot and checking that lot number when purchasing is strongly advisable for 783-heavy projects. The close rating also means the specific warm, saturated golden character of the DMC original — the quality that makes 783 read unmistakably as ripe grain and golden-hour light rather than as a generic warm yellow-brown — may not be perfectly preserved.
