Halloween — DMC Color Palette Guide
Halloween cross-stitch is a blast — pumpkins, black cats, witches, ghosts, and haunted houses give you an excuse to use colors you'd never pick for a floral sampler. The Halloween palette is bold and graphic: bright orange, deep black, rich purple, and acid green. Here are the best DMC colors for every spooky project.
Pumpkin Orange
Black & Dark
Witchy Purple
Ghost & Bone
Slime & Poison Green
Tips for Using This Palette
- • DMC 310 (Black) is the backbone of every Halloween piece — use it for outlining, backstitching, and solid fills.
- • For pumpkins, use DMC 946 or 947 as the main body, DMC 740 for highlights, and DMC 3853 for shadows.
- • Ghost outlines in DMC 414 (dark gray) on white fabric look more atmospheric than black outlines.
- • Mix DMC 907 with DMC 704 for toxic slime effects — the yellow-green contrast creates an eerie glow.
Thread conversions are approximate — always compare a small stitched sample when switching brands. See individual color pages for full Anchor, Madeira, Cosmo, and Sullivans equivalents.
