For flag and heraldic designs where color accuracy is more critical, comparing the Sullivans skein against the DMC original in natural daylight before committing is worthwhile, particularly if the design uses multiple navy values together. At this extreme dark value, the close rating's color character difference is partially masked by pigment depth — the distinction between precisely very-dark-navy and slightly-different near-black blue is less perceptible than the same close-rating difference would be at mid-blue values.
