Sullivans 45480 is a close match in the very light bright moss-green range. The high-energy yellow-green character of DMC 165 is one of the most brand-sensitive shades in the entire range — the exact yellow-to-green balance at this extreme end of the spectrum shifts perceptibly between manufacturers, and our eyes are unusually sensitive to these shifts in the yellow-green zone. Check Sullivans 45480 on your project fabric in natural daylight to confirm it reads as bright and yellow-leaning rather than settling into a cooler or more muted green. The electric, advancing quality of 165 should be present: the thread should push forward visually from the fabric and read as vivid rather than calm or subtle. If the Sullivans version reads as a standard light green without the yellow-chartreuse energy, it will not serve in the highlight and accent roles where 165's particular character is what the design requires. For small highlight applications — floral centers, foliage tips, sunlit leaf edges — where the color appears in limited quantities among larger areas of other colors, minor brand differences are usually invisible in the finished piece and Sullivans 45480 is a practical substitute.
