DMC 318 to Bucilla: Thread Conversion

Bucilla uses thread number 6221 in their kits as the equivalent to DMC 318 Light Steel Gray. Bucilla is best known for their holiday and seasonal counted cross-stitch kits — the kind with felt appliqué and festive designs — and their thread numbering system is entirely proprietary to those kits. You won't find Bucilla thread sold separately on its own, so if you run out of color 6221 mid-project, DMC 318 Light Steel Gray is what you want to pick up as a replacement. Worth noting: Bucilla kits sometimes pack thread amounts a bit tighter than the design demands, especially for background fills, so running short isn't unusual — keep DMC 318 on hand if you're working a Bucilla kit with large areas of this color.
