DMC 975 to Cosmo: Thread Conversion

Cosmo 130 is close-rated for DMC 975 Dark Golden Brown. Cosmo's warm brown range is generally well-calibrated, though some stitchers find the golden saturation slightly less pronounced in Cosmo's version. In a full golden brown progression (975-976-977), using Cosmo 130 for just the dark value while using DMC or another brand for the lighter values could create a subtle mismatch in the warmth level at the shadow end, making the darker value look relatively more neutral against the warmer lighter values. If mixing brands within a progression, testing the full sequence on fabric before committing is the most reliable approach — photographing the test stitches can mislead because cameras handle warm browns inconsistently, so in-person fabric evaluation in natural daylight is preferable. For standalone autumn foliage and wildlife applications where 975 appears without strict gradient partnership with 976 and 977, Cosmo 130 is more practically adequate and the close-rating saturation difference is less consequential. Cosmo's silkier thread surface gives warm dark brown fills a polished quality that suits contemporary nature illustration designs. Cosmo's strong Asian market availability makes it the most practical option for stitchers in those regions building autumn wildlife palettes.
